SIPA SFL 4/4 Linear Blower IR Lamp: Keeping Pace with SACMI Speed
Let’s talk about the SIPA SFL 4/4 linear blower infrared lamp. It was built for one reason: to stay right on the heels of those high-speed SACMI rotary blow molding machines. On those lines, the clock is your boss. Every second is precious. If your IR lamp can’t get hot fast enough, the preforms start to cool. The whole process gets thrown off, and your output just… drops.
The Power Behind the Speed
We spec’d the SFL 4/4 as a 400V system. Here’s why that matters: higher voltage heats things up faster, and it does it without drawing a ton of current. Less current means less stress on the wiring and a more stable electrical load for the whole cell. And that linear shape? It’s not just for looks. It’s a smart way to spread the heat. The 300mm tube focuses on the exact area you need—the neck and shoulder of the preform. So you get even heating right where it counts, without scorching the body.
Built to Last, Built to Work
The tube is wrapped in quartz, because it handles high heat and jumps to temperature almost instantly. The shortwave IR output is tuned to be absorbed perfectly by PET, so you’re putting the energy right where it needs to be. A reflective coating keeps the heat focused on the preform, not on the surrounding parts. That means your bearings, sensors, and the blow molding cam stay protected. And that R7s connector? We chose it on purpose. It gives you a solid, low-resistance connection that’s quick to swap out during maintenance. Less downtime. More uptime. The blower arrangement pushes air across the hot zone, which helps control the temperature and keeps those hot spots from shortening the lamp’s life.
The Real-World Trade-Off
On a SACMI rotary machine, the SFL 4/4 is all about speed. It fires up fast, keeping pace with the high RPMs and keeping that heating window consistent. That means fewer scraps from temperature swings. But there’s a trade-off. A 400V, 2500W lamp packs a lot of heat. So you need to make sure the machine’s airflow and cooling are up to the job. If the air path gets blocked or the room gets hot, the lamp will run hotter, which can affect how steady it is and how long it lasts. We designed this lamp to drop right into the SFL 4/4 footprint. No redesigning the machine. Just wire it up and go. For the engineers running those SACMI cells, it means predictable heating, fewer stops caused by temperature issues, and a lamp that can keep up with the line, second after second.
