It beams energy directly onto the person’s skin. You feel the heat the second you step under it. How it actually works Inside these units, there’s a quartz halogen tube. We use a tungsten filament wrapped in quartz and filled with halogen gas. It sounds technical, but here’s the real-world benefit: it lets the filament run incredibly hot without burning out. The result? A punch of high-density heat that hits you instantly. We’ve tuned these for speed. The moment the sensor feels the temperature dip, the lamp kicks back in. It happens in milliseconds. No waiting around for a fan to kick on or a radiator to warm up. The nitty-gritty on design We use quartz because it doesn’t block the heat. Thick glass would just get in the way, so we keep it lean. Even the connectors are heavy-duty—we use R7s slide-in mounts because things expand and contract when they get this hot, and we need a connection that won’t wiggle loose. And since these lamps get scorching, we don’t just slap them in a box. We use reflective aluminum baffles to aim the heat downward. It keeps the housing from warping and stops you from wasting energy heating the ceiling. A few things to watch out for Look, these lamps are powerful, but they can be temperamental if you aren’t careful. Because the heat is so concentrated, you can accidentally create “hot spots.” If you mount the unit too low, your customers are going to feel like they’re standing too close to a campfire.
