Stop Replacing Your SIG Blomax Lamps Every Other Week
If your SIG Blomax line is eating through heating lamps, you probably already know the frustration. It’s a pain. You’re staring at downtime you didn’t plan for, and you’re wondering why these things keep popping. Most people assume it’s a voltage spike. But honestly? It’s usually just the sheer physical stress of the machine heating up and cooling down over and over again. We built our replacement lamps for Aoki systems to handle that exact kind of abuse. They aren’t just “compatible”—they’re designed to actually survive a high-speed PET floor. The heat struggle To get those PET preforms to the right temperature for blowing, you need a lot of power. A lot. We’ve tweaked the filament tension and the gas fill so the heat stays steady from one end of the tube to the other. It keeps your cycle times fast, which is great for production. But here’s the catch: that much heat puts a massive strain on the quartz glass. If your cooling fans are dusty or just not pulling enough air, the ends of the lamp will cook themselves. That’s usually where the failure starts. Stopping the “pop” Standard lamps usually give up the ghost at the pinch seal or where the connector hits. We changed the internal guts of the lamp so the filament doesn’t sag or shift when the machine starts vibrating. We also obsessed over the connectors. If the fit is even slightly loose, you get a tiny electrical arc. That arc will burn through an end cap in a matter of hours. We tightened those tolerances so you don’t have to worry about it. A quick tip for the shop floor Installing these into an Aoki-compatible system is easy. They slide right into the existing footprints—no messing around with brackets or custom mods. But, there is one rule.Keep them clean. If you leave a fingerprint or a smudge of oil on the quartz while you’re installing them, you’ve just created a hot spot. It doesn’t matter how reinforced the inside is; that hot spot will crack the glass. Do yourself a favor: grab some IPA, give them a quick wipe, and then power up. Your lamps (and your sanity) will thank you.
