Let’s be honest: keeping Krones Contiform lines running is expensive. Between the downtime and the eye-watering cost of OEM parts, it can feel like you’re just burning money. That’s why we made a drop-in replacement for the Sidel SBO6 heater lamp. It does exactly what the original does—hits those same thermal profiles—but it won’t kill your maintenance budget. The Power Stuff The SBO6 lamp is a beast. It uses high-voltage short-wave infrared radiation to get those PET preforms hot, and it has to do it fast. We’ve spec’d these tubes to handle that constant, rapid cycling without flinching. You need that intense heat density. If the preform wall isn’t soft enough, the blow fails. If it’s too hot, you ruin the neck. It’s a delicate balance. One quick tip: keep an eye on your voltage regulators. If your power supply is jumping around, these lamps will burn out way faster than they should. Get them dialed in. Built to Last (And Easy to Swap) We use high-purity quartz glass because, frankly, the thermal shock of turning these on and off all day is brutal. We also added a halogen gas fill. This keeps the tungsten filament from evaporating too quickly, which means the lamp actually lasts. Installation is the easy part. They use a standard R7s connector—just a simple press-fit. You can swap them out during a shift change in a couple of minutes without hunting for specialized tools. We also added a specific coating to the quartz. It filters the wavelengths so the energy hits the PET material, not the machine frame. Making it Work in Your Oven Since these are a direct fit for the SBO6 oven, you don’t have to mess with your heating zone calibrations. They hit the same focal point as the OEM parts. Simple. But here is the thing: if you push these lamps to their max wattage, your cooling fans have to work harder. If your ventilation is clogged with dust or grime, your lamp life will tank.
