Heating PC preforms is a delicate balance. You need enough heat to hit that glass transition point, but if you overdo it, you’re just scorching the plastic. It’s a headache. That’s why we built our infrared softening lamps to be “drop-in” replacements. We wanted them to fit about 95% of the blowing machines out there. No guesswork. No modifications. Just swap them in and get back to work. The nitty-gritty on the specs Different machines have different appetites for voltage and wattage. We keep things simple by offering tubes in standard lengths—usually between 150mm and 400mm—so they actually fit in your oven. We also cover the spread on power (2000W to 3500W) and voltage (220V to 400V) to match whatever your transformer is putting out. Here is a pro tip: don’t try to shortcut this. If you pop a 220V lamp into a 400V circuit, it’ll blow out instantly. We’ve tuned our filaments specifically to handle these loads so you don’t have to worry about it. Materials and the “Plug-and-Play” part We use high-purity quartz glass because it can take the brutal heat of shortwave infrared without cracking. As for the connections? We stick to the basics—R7s and Sk15. Think of these as the universal plugs of the heating world. Because we use them, you won’t be spending your afternoon rewiring the oven or fabricating weird brackets just to make a lamp stay in place. Plus, we offer coated versions. These shift the infrared spectrum, which helps the heat soak into the PC material more evenly. It just feels smoother. A quick heads-up on airflow High-wattage lamps are great for fast cycle times. They get the job done quickly. But there’s a catch. These lamps pump a massive amount of heat into the oven. If your cooling fans are clogged with dust or just aren’t strong enough, the air inside gets way too hot. Before you know it, your preforms are warping before they even hit the mold.
